WBCS 2021 Notification

As per the notification dated 21 December 2021, the WBCS Prelims will be held on 22 August 2021. The earlier WBPSC official notice stating Written Examinations scheduled between 7 May 2021 and 30 June 2021 still stands postponed as of this date. You can view it here.

Eligibility Criteria for WBCS Posts

Luckily for WBCS employees, the WBCS recruitment exam doesn’t have stringent eligibility criteria. Here’s how it looks like:

  • A graduate degree from a recognized state university in any field of discipline
  • Adhering to the age limit of 21 to 36 years for services included in Group ‘A’ and ‘C’, 20 to 36 years for Group B services, and 21 to 39 years for Group D services.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Bengali, unless your mother tongue is Nepali

Note: Please take note of the age relaxation guidelines listed under the 'Age Limit' section.

Age Limit

Here is a list of the age limits you have to adhere to for applying for the vacant posts:

  • Services included in Group ‘A’ and ‘C’: 21 to 36 years
  • West Bengal Police Service (Group ‘B’ Service): 20 to 36 years
  • Services included in Group ‘D’: 21 to 39 years

Note: If you are born between 1 Jan 2000 and 1 January 2001, you can apply for Group B only.

WBCS Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST/BC from West Bengal: 5 years
  • SC/ST from the Other States: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): up to 45 years

WBCS Exam Application Fee

  • General/ OBC/ EWS: INR 210 + GST
  • SC/ST/ PwD (for West Bengal): Nil
  • SC/ST/ PwD for other states: INR 210 + GST
