SPSC exam 2021 eligibility criteria, syllabus, exam pattern, study plan, vacancies, salary, and more


Sikkim Public Service Commission, commonly known as the SPSC, was established under the Government of India Act, 1935. The Indian constitution later gave it the constitutional status as the "autonomous body". Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC) will soon issue the notice of SPSC Recruitment 2021. Educational qualification-

SPSC candidates must have finished SSC/ 10th class/ 12th/ Diploma/ B.E/ B.Tech/ BSc/ Degree/ Graduation/ Post Graduation/ PhD from a recognized board or university.

Age limit-

Should have attained the age of 21 yrs. But should not have reached the age of 30 years on the date of application to the post. The maximum age limit shall be relaxed for up to 5 years for BL, SC & ST candidates, four years for MBC candidates, and three years for OBC candidates.

Other Essential Requisites-

  • Candidate must own either Sikkim Subject Certificate or Certificate of Identification issued by the Competent Authority under relevant orders of the State Government.
  • Should have valid employment card.
  • Should be conversant with the customs and usages of Sikkim.
  • Should know of any of the State languages.

  • Then, view all the advertisement details.
  • If you are acceptable, download your application form.
  • Pay the application fee.
  • Make sure that you put in all the required information.
  • Re-check & submit the application form by the given date.

  • Before applying, you need to have a valid email and Scanned copies of the photo & signature.

  • Press on to link "Click here for New Registration".
  • Fill Sikkim Public Service Commission Registration form with all essential details & click on "Submit".
  • The application fee must be paid Online and then Submit the Form.
  • In the end, take a printout of the online application for future use.


All aspirants should compulsorily carry the admit card to the exam hall without fail. The Sikkim Civil Service releases admit cards separately for the prelims, mains & personality tests. The document contains important details like name, registration number, exam venue, address, centre, address & other details. Aspirants can download their admit cards from their official website. Follow these steps to download the SPSC Admit Card 2021-

  • Visit the official website of Sikkim PSC.
  • Go to the "Quick Links" section.
  • Find & locate the link to download the admit card.
  • Provide applicant ID & date of birth details.
  • Upon validation, the admit card will be displayed.
  • Download, save & take a printout of the document.

The Selection Process of Sikkim PSC rests on the three stages, i.e.,

  • Prelims
  • Mains
  • Personality Test


Prelims Exam Pattern-

  • This phase of examination will be of objective type.
  • It is only a qualifying exam in nature.
  • Marks secured in the prelims round provide an entry to the main round.
  • Prelims exam consists of two papers, each for two hours and 200 marks respectively.
  • The language of the examination is only English.
  • Negative marking of 1/3rd of marks wherever there is an incorrect answer entry.

Mains Exam Pattern-

  • The mains exam consists of three papers, i.e. (General Awareness, General English & Optional Subject)
  • Papers are descriptive by nature.
  • Each paper carries 200 marks.
  • Marks secured in the mains exam will provide an entry for candidates into the personality test phase.
  • Marks obtained in mains are considered for the final calculation of marks.

Personality Test-

Candidates who score minimum qualifying marks in the written phase of the Mains exam shall be called for an interview. The marks secured in these papers will be counted for ranking. The interview will carry 50 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks). Marks thus obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination (written) and in the interview would determine their final ranking.


Prelims syllabus-

General Studies Paper-I- Social and economic development of India, national and international level, Indian history and freedom struggle movement, Current affairs at local, Indian geography and world geography, social, economic geography, Indian polity and constitution, Physical, Governance and bureaucracy, Public policy development and five-year plans, Rights, Indian political system and rural panchayat raj, duties and impending issues, Poverty and social welfare measures, Ecology, environment and biodiversity, General elements of science.

General Studies Paper-II- Decision making, communication skills and interpersonal skills, Numerical ability, Unseen passage and comprehension, Mental mathematics, data sufficiency and numerical word problems, Logical ability and analytical reasoning, Data interpretation.

Mains Syllabus-

Paper-I: General Awareness- English grammar and vocabulary, Current affairs, comprehension and unseen passage, English language usage, Maths problems and numeric ability, Essay writing, General knowledge of Sikkim state, Important dates and events, Indian, history, culture, geography, economy and festivals.

Paper-II: General English- Spellings and error spotting questions, antonyms, Paragraph and precise writing, idioms and phrases, Synonyms, Sentence completion, Joining sentences with correct linking words.


The result for all three phases shall be announced on their official website separately. The result will be out in pdf format containing lists of roll numbers of the candidates qualifying prelims exam.

  • Go to the recruitment section on the homepage.
  • Then click on "Result".
  • Find the link for "Sikkim PSC 2021 Result" and click on the same.
  • Find your roll number.


The Sikkim Civil Service Commission lays a minimum score for each exam round; the cut-off marks. Candidates who score above the stated cut off range shall be eligible for the next round of exams. Cut off marks are displayed on their official website for a few days after the results are announced. Cut off marks chiefly depend on the number of candidates who appeared for the exam, cut off marks declared for last year's exams and toughness level of the present exam.

  2. The journey of preparation is not a linear curve but a sinusoidal one. There will be a time when you feel depressed. Keeping yourself motivated in those situations is key.
  3. Don't study haphazardly. Prepare a good timetable.
  4. Give leisure time to yourself. Don't make your preparation monotonous.
